Position Overview: The Shipper is responsible for ensuring a seamless processing of outgoing shipments. They understand the impact of this position to other business functions that depend on the accuracy and efficiency of outgoing items.

Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for ensuring proper shipping practices are utilized.
  • Responsible for ensuring international shipping practices are understood and utilized, and to ensure goods are shipped in the most economical way possible while meeting customer requirements.
  • Responsible for packaging and preserving goods and ensuring they are ready for transport.
  • Ensure that shipments contain proper documentation.
  • Maintain an organized work area according to IMW policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Working Knowledge of INCO Terms.
  • Filing and storage of shipping documents, ensuring they will be preserved for their required life cycle.
  • Be punctual and available for a minimum of 40 hours of work according to their shift,
  • Know and understand workplace health and safety, right’s and responsibilities.
  • Follow safe work procedures and act in safe manner to protect themselves, team members and the public at all times.
  • Able to safely lift 35 lbs.
  • Maintain a safe working environment within the department and on each job.
  • Use the protective clothing, devices, and equipment required for the job.
  • Complete all applicable quality records.
  • Perform work in accordance with IMW documented policies and procedures.
  • Participate in training as required to keep current with industrial requirements, changes in process and procedures. Also as required for career development.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • Materials handling certification or equivalent experience is required.
Experience: 
  • Materials handling certification or equivalent experience is required.
Physical:
  • Regularly required to stand walk or sit; use hands to operate computers, office equipment; use vision and hearing dealing with communication and office materials.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Language: 
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and clients, and other employees.
Computer Skills:
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Certifications / Licences / Permits:
  • Materials handling certification or equivalent experience.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
  • Overhead crane and rigging.
  • Forklift.

  • Have an excellent knowledge of proper shipping practices.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Have an eye for detail and pride in one’s work.
